FEMS is Seeking Enthusiastic New Board Members

FEMS is seeking three members to join its Board of Directors who are committed to advancing the Federation of European Microbiological Societies’ (FEMS) mission and purpose, starting on 1 January 2025. Whether you are an early career scientist looking to make your mark or an established professional eager to give back to the community, we invite you to nominate yourself or pass this call onto colleagues who embody the values and aspirations of our community.

As an executive body, the Board is a group of committed volunteers consisting of the President and seven Board members. Together, they guide the future of the Federation by influencing its strategy and ensuring the charitable objectives of the organization are met. Board members also act as Trustees, ensuring the long-term security of FEMS by ensuring the organization is prepared to meet future challenges. Board members are elected by the Council, which consists of one Delegate from each Member Society and current members of the Board of Directors.

We are inviting applications for three individuals to become part of our FEMS Board members.

  • the chance to shape the future of FEMS and its role within the microbiological community

Term of office:

  • these roles are for three years, from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027

Deadline and how to apply:
Applications are open until 17:00 Central European Time (CET) on Friday 14 June 2024. More information on the benefits and skills FEMS is seeking can be found in the Nomination Information Pack.

To apply applicants should email the FEMS Election Committee electioncommittee@fems-microbiology.org submitting the following items:

  • a supporting letter from two FEMS Member Societies
  • their CV
  • a brief covering letter highlighting why they are applying for the role and how they feel their skills and experience can contribute to FEMS.

Shortlisted applicants will be reviewed and invited mid-July to present their nomination to the the Council on 12 -13 September 2024.
