Biotechvana call for researcher: Bioinformatic platform for knowledge discovery and precision medicine

Biotechvana seeks a candidate to apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships call (H2020-MSCA-IF-2017) in the Society and Enterprise Panel [MSCA-IF-EF-SE].

The objective of this call is to facilitate career moves between the academic and non-academic sectors, and to open attractive career opportunities for researchers outside academia (funding range ca. 36% for the last call). We offer excellent expertise and facilities to develop the research project for this call, as well as outstanding proposal writing and project management abilities to prepare a competitive project proposal.

Summary of the research project:

With the advent of the post-genomic era, high-throughput technologies revolutionized the way in which omics is performed. It is commonly agreed that a third revolution is currently raised in the field, particularly in relation to personalized and precision medicine, to develop more efficient tools for the integration and analysis of knowledge and multiple omics (multi-omics) of complex diseases and associated clinical data and metadata.

Biotechvana is looking for an experienced bio-researcher interested in participating in a translational research project aiming at integrating the advances in multi-omics, systems biology and machine learning algorithms in a new platform for knowledge discovery and precision medicine.

Requirements set by the MSCA-IF-EF-SE call:

  1. At the date of the call deadline (14 September 2017) the applicant will be in possession of a doctoral degree or has at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. This full-time equivalent research experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited, even if a doctorate was never started or envisaged.
  2. The applicant must not have resided or carried out the main activity in Spain for more than 36 months in the 5 years immediately before the call deadline.

Ideal candidates

  • Researchers that comply with the requirements and that are domain experts (e.g. molecular biologists, biotechnologists, biochemists, pharmacists, medical doctors) with demonstrated skills in translational research oriented to clinical diagnosis.
  • Research experience in clinical omics is highly recommendable.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated, be an independent and critical thinker while working as part of a team, possess excellent communication, and data presentation skills.

Documents to be submitted for the EOIs

  • CV and cover letter.
