Postdoctoral Research Associate in Marine Microbial Ecology: UK
The Marine Biological Association (MBA) is an independent research institute carrying out leading-edge research in fundamental and strategic areas of marine biology. We are looking for a highly motivated and independently working postdoctoral research scientist with interests in marine microbial ecology to be part of a three year NERC-funded project.
Applicants should have a PhD and a strong conceptual and practical background in marine microbial ecology. The successful candidate will undertake research using a range of contemporary tools to explore the functional ecology of microbial plankton in the Arctic. Experience in some of following areas will be an advantage: microbial sampling and processing onboard research cruises, application of high-throughput sequencing analysis of microbial diversity and marine biogeochemistry.
The role includes research cruises overseas. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory. The post is available for 1 year initially with extension to 3 years. The candidate must be eligible to work in the UK. Salary £24,285 to £28,936.
