Professorship in Microbiology: Germany

The Department of Biology at the Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for a Professorship in “Microbiology” (W3) beginning in Winter Semester 2019/20.

 Research of the successful candidate will focus on one or more of the following topics: Synthetic microbiology, Microbial genomics, Microbial cell biology, Molecular microbial ecology. Research should be an integral part of the research foci “Synthetic Biology” and/or “Radiation Response and Genome Stability”. Teaching will include basic and advanced courses in microbiology in its entire scope.

We seek an established scientist with international experience and an excellent potential to develop a strong research and teaching program. A distinguished scientific track record and didactic experience are a prerequisite. We offer a stimulating interdisciplinary research environment and promote interactions between Biology and other Natural Sciences and Engineering departments.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W-Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
