2026 Elections for FEMS Board of Trustees

01-04-2026

Help shape what comes next for microbiology

FEMS is inviting nominations for a President and two Trustees to join its Board for the term 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029. The FEMS Board is composed of the President, the Secretary General, the Treasurer, and five additional Board members. As the Federation enters a new strategic phase, this is an opportunity to shape its key priorities and help guide its impact.

Why step forward

FEMS brings together over 30,000 microbiologists through its Member Societies. The Board turns that collective strength into direction, focus, and impact. As part of the Board, you will help shape decisions that influence how microbiologists collaborate, how science is shared, and how the next generation is supported.

Open roles: President & two Trustees

The President chairs the Board, guiding its direction and representing FEMS across the global microbiology community. This role calls for an established leader who can bring people together, navigate complexity, and translate vision into action. The President works in close collaboration with FEMS Executive Director.

The Trustees work alongside the President to shape strategy, support sound decision-making, and strengthen the organisation’s impact. This is a collaborative role for individuals who bring perspective, judgement, and a commitment to shared leadership.
