At FEMS
FEMS Summer School on Microbiology Education
The summer school has been postponed to Spring 2022.
Join us for the FEMS Summer School on Microbiology Education taking place on the 20-26 September 2021, at the Halkidiki Palace Hotel on the Kassandra Peninsula (Greece), easily reachable from Thessaloniki.
The FEMS Summer School on Microbiology Education aims to develop the skills of those teaching academic microbiology and encourage networking and personal connections between individuals. After a year of constant challenges to traditional teaching models, we want to review and discuss how the experiences of distance learning can be used to help prepare for the future of microbiology education.
Programme
You can find the full programme here.
The Summer School will consist of small workshops and lectures, with many opportunities for communication and networking among participants. Most of the workshops and lectures will cover skills and approaches, techniques and, methodologies relevant to microbiology education and how they might be applied in practice.
Other lectures will be dedicated to studying the most significant recent developments in microbiology science and their relevance to students. The event is intended to contribute to holistic continued professional development (CPD) of educators and will be most beneficial to early and mid-career educators and those preparing microbiology courses and curricula. The maximum number of attendees will be 25.

COVID-19 Disclaimer:
The safety and welfare of our attendees and staff is our top priority. Consequently, FEMS will monitor the situation for this year’s Summer School on Microbiology Education and decide whether the ongoing SARS-CoV2/COVID-19 pandemic will force us to conduct the Summer School in an online format, rather than in person. For now, we are planning an in-person event with various precautions, with contingency plans for an online version of this event.
International and Greek legislation and advice on events and travel and events will be followed.
